Replace Your Old Gas Guzzling Boiler!
If your boiler is old, or particularly of the non-condensing, not-fuel-efficient types (easily recognisable as you won't have lots of visible plumage (steam) from your flue exit outside, particularly in winter, and you won't have a seperate plastic pipe running from the underside of the boiler to a waste drain somewhere to carry away the acidic condensed water from the combustion process), then changing your boiler could typically save you up to 30% off your gas bill and also reduce your electric bill in the process! Not many people consider that the boiler uses electric to run, and if it has to work less, and has modern energy efficient components, it will save you electricity AND gas! Check out previous installations here.
Typically this is the most expensive option which would incorporate a new boiler, and generally involve a powerflush to clean the central heating system, upgrading of radiator valves to TRVs, fitting of a dual magnetic/cyclonic filter to keep the central heating water clean and enhance efficiency and life of the new boiler, adding of rust inhibitor and life-prolonging chemicals to the central heating system, and new controls (programmable thermostat, etc), to give full control of the boiler for when YOU want heat, not the boiler!
It is very difficult to state a price without visiting for a quote, as every customer's needs are different, and it also depends on what size of central heating system you have, what hot water demands you have, how many bathrooms, how many people using hot water, what system you currently have (vented system with a hot water cylinder and a feed and expansion tank in the attic with gravity fed cold water from a second tank in the attic, or an unvented system with a no tanks in the attic and mains cold water feed, or a combi, where you'll have no storage tanks in the attic, no cylinder and hot water is provided on demand), how big (in kW output) your current boiler is, how the pipework is configured, where the gas meter is, where the boiler is to be sited, and many more factors.
